PSA: The buffet restaurant's last day is on June 30.

After the many speculations on the fate of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, the five-star luxury hotel in Pasay has confirmed that it will close down and cease operations starting July 1 this year. Spiral, the in-house famous buffet restaurant, is closing together with the hotel-which has left many fans of one of Metro's famous hotel buffets in low spirits. As Sofitel's inevitable closing day draws near, let our parting guide make the process easier on the heart, if not the stomach.

Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila's Spiral is closing on the same day as the hotel, with June 30, Sunday, as its last operational day. The same goes for the other dining and drinking establishments at Sofitel, namely Le Bar, Snaps Sports Bar, and Cocos.

Can you still book a table at Spiral?

As of writing, you can no longer book a table for Spiral's lunch and dinner buffets. In a call SPOT.ph made to Spiral's reservation number, they disclosed that all tables for their lunch and dinner buffets are fully booked until June 30, the last day.

Now, if you feel a little jealous of the lucky ones who were able to book a lunch or dinner table, there is a way to somewhat lessen that FOMO (fear of missing out). Sure, Spiral's lunch and dinner buffets are the more famous, but in case you didn't know, the buffet restaurant is also open to welcome the breakfast crowd.

Spiral's Breakfast Buffet also has access to the 21 ateliers, including the Cheese Room, but with breakfast-themed offerings, which means the food offered during the breakfast buffet is different from those that are served during the lunch and dinner buffets. Luckily, Spiral's breakfast buffet is strictly for walk-in customers and is on a first-come, first-served basis, unlike the lunch and dinner buffet which accepts bookings and reservations.

Spiral's breakfast buffet is priced at P2,800 nett/head from Mondays to Fridays and P3,000 nett/head on Saturdays and Sundays. There is a small catch, though: You'll have to wake up early (like, early) to get a table. Those who want to try Spiral's breakfast buffet should be there as soon as the buffet opens at 6:30 a.m. or earlier if you want to raise the likelihood of securing a table. Take note that the breakfast buffet is only open until 10:00 a.m.

Sofitel's Snaps Sports Bar is for the sports enthusiasts who want to catch a game while chugging down a pint of beer or a glass of wine or liquor if that's the preferred drink. The menu has a range of dishes that are perfect if you need to focus more on what's on the screen and less on what's on your plate. They have burgers, sandwiches, hotdogs, pizzas, plates of pasta, and deep-fried bites.

Lastly, there's Sofitel's Cocos which was previously named Sunsets Bar. The restaurant highlights Mediterranean-inspired dishes "with a touch of flavors from France." The menu includes a wide selection of salads, such as their popular Burrata Salad (P1,150), Nicoise Salad (P950), Cocos Salad (P700) and Chiprones (P670), and for something heftier, the restaurant recommends the likes of the Pomodoro & Burrata (P850) and Calamari Negra (P950) pasta plates, Lamb Kofta Sandwich (P850), Pork Iberio Secreto (P1,350), Black Market Angus (P2,400), and a Yuzu Calamansi Tart (P500) for dessert, among other things. Cocos also has a Weekend Graze, a Mediterranean buffet-style feast, on Fridays and Saturdays, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

For now, there's no assurance that Sofitel's Spiral restaurant will return. It was unclear in the hotel's official statement if their 2024 closure is temporary or permanent, although speculations point toward the former. And if that is the case, let's hope that Sofitel's reopening in the future is sooner than later, and that it hopefully has a new and improved Spiral dining experience.

Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila is at CCP Complex, Roxas Blvd, Pasay. For more information, check out Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila's and Spiral Manila's Facebook pages.
