Sandara Park is a mainstay on many lists of K-pop's richest female idols. While she previously denied that she made enough bank to warrant the third-highest spot, several netizens are still questioning how she got her wealth in the first place. But in a recent vid, the Philippines’ Pambansang Krung-Krung finally set the record straight.

While on a promo tour for her self-titled EP, the K-pop star appeared on the South Korea-based YouTube channel 1theK Originals. There, she rifled through the web for content regarding her, including Korean netizens’ inquiring thoughts.
“I was just reading top five wealthiest female singers. It was IU, Lee Hyori, Sandara Park, BoA, SUZY, in order,” one comment read, which was posted on the entertainment platform Instiz. “How is she so wealthy? Is she good at managing her finances?”
As a gracious response, Sandara recalled the conversation about the exact topic right after 2NE1’s separation. “There was a lot of talk about this after we disbanded. People close to me also wondered how Dara gets her money to do so much shopping.”
According to her, she was exasperated and “almost got angry.” She clarified that she didn’t work a lot “locally,” as much of her income came overseas—the Philippines included. “I am quite popular in Southeast Asia and I got quite large ad fees.”
The star, however, expressed that the comments did get under her skin. “I was consistently making good money, and people looked down on me and all back then. I was a bit angry. I want to go shopping with the money I made.”
Sandara also revealed that she “failed to invest” at that time, and spent much of her income in shopping sprees. This included spending two million Korean won in one go (approx. P86,000) at the Japanese store Don Quijote!
“I keep needing more shoe racks so there are shoes stuffed in the balcony because I failed to take care of them,” she said, regarding her vast shoe collection. “It’s so upsetting but I have to move to a house larger than Boon the Shop [famous stockist of designer brands] to organize all of them.”
Still, Sandara’s heart of gold doesn’t lack in its luster—even with her shopping! “I give it out to people!” she said. Aww!
