Rufa Mae Quinto is a national treasure. At least, that seems to be the consensus of the internet, with the comedienne’s iconic voice always creeping up in discussions of pop culture. This time around, the X space (formerly Twitter) pitched an idea that had users running amok with their imagination: A Cunk on Earth-style mockumentary in the Philippines, but with Rufa Mae as the host.
Prompted by an X post by @denielemein, the user cited an idea of her follower @MxNoelle about a historical series narrated by the iconic Filipina comedienne. “Just remember oomf [one of my followers] saying we should have a ph version of CUNK ON EARTH starring rufa mae quinto,” she wrote. And in the ways of X, the quote-reposts were flooded with hypothetical dialogue. (Just imagine Rufa Mae’s voice!)
What Is “Cunk on Earth”?
For the uninitiated, Cunk on Earth is a British mockumentary series hosted by English actress and comedienne Diane Morgan, who slips into the persona of Philomena Cunk. The character is depicted as an “ill-informed” investigative reporter, as she questions experts and historians about British and world history with deadpan comedy–and often, they're filled with odd and absurd inquiries during one-on-one interviews.

Of course, that had people thinking: What if there was a Philippine history spinoff with Rufa Mae at the helm? Users across X clamored for the concept, with some thinking that it may be an ingenious way to educate about local history. Below, check out some of the most hilarious posts from the people of X, as voiced by Rufa Mae (in our heads).
Netizens Are Clamoring for a “Cunk on Earth”-Inspired Historical Mockumentary Show Hosted by Rufa Mae Quinto
First things first, X users got in on the nitty-gritty of the Philippines’ Spanish colonial history.

Meanwhile, some got into urban legends, current events, and the country’s historic spots.

But to echo the spirit of Philomena Cunk, others posed the most existential questions of our times.

And if Philomena had British experts on speed dial, the hypothetical show has historian Ambeth Ocampo in a one-on-one with Rufa Mae.

Even the historian himself got in on the craze, although he has another host in mind: comedienne and actress Eugene Domingo!
