The Department of Finance has revealed the list of top-performing cities in local revenue generation for 2020 and, as expected, the list is dominated by cities located in Metro Manila, with only one city—Davao—making it to the top 10.
Quezon City topped the list released by the DOF’s Bureau of Local Government Finance, with its locally sourced revenue (LSR) reaching P21.57 billion last year. The DOF says the LSR includes the sum of real property taxes, local business tax, as well as fees and charges and receipts from economic enterprises.
In second place is Makati City, with P14.99 billion, followed by the City of Manila at P11 billion, Taguig City at P10.25 billion, Pasig City at P9.49 billion, Parañaque City at P6.32 billion, Pasay City at P5.48 billion, Davao City at P5.35 billion, Mandaluyong City at P4.68 billion, and Muntinlupa City at P4.26 billion.
Meanwhile, the top 10 provinces with the highest nominal LSR are: Bulacan (P1.72 billion), Bataan (P1.59 billion), Rizal (P1.53 billion), Pampanga (P1.37 billion), Quezon (P1.307 billion), Batangas (P1.10 billion), Iloilo (P995 million), Bukidnon (802 million), Pangasinan (P796 million), and Cavite (P721 million).
