When you order something from the Honeylicious Afternoon Tea menu of Raffles Hotel in Makati City, you should know that the honey used in the dishes and drink comes from the hotel’s own in-house bee colony.
Located in the hotel’s outdoor herb garden at the hotel’s second level, the small bee farm has been there for about a year and a half. It is the hotel’s own way of managing its own resources to promote sustainability and environment-friendly practices.
To celebrate its first-ever harvest of honey, Raffles Hotel is offering the so-called “liquid gold” as the star ingredient in its Honeylicious Afternoon Tea in its elegant Writers Bar lounge adjacent to the lobby.
At the launch, there was a quick demonstration of how exactly honey is extracted from the honeycombs from beekeeper Katya Rieck. The afternoon tea menu includes a selection of sweet and savory canapés from the hotel’s executive chef, Bèla Rieck. Try the honey dates wrapped in prosciutto skewers, honey Gorgonzola and arugula sandwich, Honey Osoman infused white chocolate tart, and Tahini and honey macarons.
The special Honeylicious Afternoon Tea menu at Raffles Hotel’s Writers Bar is available from 2:00pm to 3:30pm and from 4:00pm to 5:30pm until June 30, 2023. Reservations are required. Each set for two starts at P2,900 net with optional upgrades for mocktail, cocktails and champagne.
