Kim Ji Won is Netflix's current-reigning K-drama queen thanks to her performance on Queen of Tears. The actress plays the ever-so-fashionable Hong Hae-in, a chaebol heiress caught in between an inheritance war and a dizzying romance.
Come to think of it, Hae-in also reminds us of previous other leading ladies we've loved before. One of them is Crash Landing on You's beloved Yoon Se-ri, who was brought to life by none other than Son Ye Jin. And it looks like we're not the only ones who think so! Because aside from their impeccable wardrobe choices and wealthy backgrounds, netizens are also claiming that the two might also share the same lineage. Just "queen" things, we suppose!
Netizens Theorize That Hong Hae-in from "Queen of Tears" and Yoon Se-ri from "Crash Landing on You" Could Be Related
In Queen of Tears, Hae-in developed a reputation as the "arrogant queen" of the Queens Department Store, where she is the CEO. In her family tree, she's from the third generation—the granddaughter of the Queens Group's chairman.
If you're an avid Hallyu fan, then you might recall how Yoon Se-ri is also affiliated with a company of the same name! Before crash-landing at the North Korean border, she was a successful businesswoman involved in a succession battle for the Queens Group. Coincidence? Well, the internet thinks otherwise! After all, both dramas were penned by Park Ji Eun.
A user noted how the Queens Group was once mentioned in an episode of CLOY. Naturally, fans of both shows have begun speculating what kind of relationship the two leading ladies share. One of them even thinks Se-ri could help out Hae-in with her current debacles in the company!
Will There Be a "Queen of Tears" and "Crash Landing on You" Crossover Soon?
Hopes are high for a possible cameo from Se-ri in an upcoming episode. Some even cross their fingers for her hubby Captain Ri (Hyun Bin) to join along! Most recently, Vincenzo, played by Song Joong Ki, made an appearance in the Queen of Tears world, so anything seems possible at this point!
Fun fact: Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin were even namedropped in one of the earlier episodes of Queen of Tears during a conversation between Hyun-woo and his lawyer friend. Hae-in's mom was even shown watching CLOY on TV, too!
However, other viewers bring up how Kim Soo Hyun, who plays Hae-in's husband Baek Hyun-woo, has already appeared in the CLOY universe when he made a cameo in the show. This might make it unlikely that the two storylines would co-exist on the same plane.
FYI, screenwriter Park Ji Eun is credited not only for CLOY and Queen of Tears, but also for other critically acclaimed titles like The Legend of the Blue Sea and My Love from the Star. With how memorable her characters are, we don't mind seeing more crossovers soon! A Jun Ji Hyun cameo too, perhaps?
