“Of course, there were doubters along the way, questioning why I would risk what I had already achieved, but to them I say, why not?” The beauty queen opened up in a video.

Pia Wurtzbach just got real as she opened up about her beginnings in the fashion industry — making the leap from Miss Universe to a bona fide fashion star.

Speaking from what seemed to be a hotel room, Pia addressed her viewers in something that she said was “personal” as she took off her makeup.

The former beauty queen began her foray into the global fashion scene in 2023, as she began attending international fashion weeks and even made her Paris Fashion Week debut last year.

“Let's rewind to the beginning of 2023,” she says in the video. “On the surface, my life seemed idyllic. I was in a loving relationship and had achieved success in the Philippines.

However, professionally I felt stagnant. I craved growth beyond what I knew. The desire to explore my potential outside the Philippines had been brewing since I passed on my Miss Universe crown,” she adds.

Pia shares that she confided in her now-husband, Jeremy Jauncey, about her unhappiness and frustration despite having much to look forward to, such as their upcoming wedding at the time.

“I still couldn't shake off the feeling of discontent. It's a strange place to be when you have so much to be grateful for, yet there's this undeniable longing for something more — and that something turned out to be fashion,” she shares.

Pia said that leaping into the world of fashion was “scary,” but she was ready for a challenge and added that having really thick skin was important to surviving in the industry.

“I immersed myself in the industry, building relationships and demonstrating my passion. Sure, of course, there were doubters along the way, questioning why I would risk what I had already achieved, but to them I say, why not?” She shares.

“There is so much space for everyone to grow, to be better, to show their skill, and use their talent and share their story,” she quips.

She ends the video by advising her followers to follow what their gut tells them, in case they feel unease.

“That's the universe nudging you to make a change, to realign yourself with your true path. Setbacks aren't roadblocks, they're opportunities for growth. And guess what, it worked. Manifesting my dreams paid off… It's really incredible what small steps can do,” she shares.

“So when life throws you off course, take a moment to reassess. Is this the end, or is this just a detour? Because challenges aren't meant to stop you, they're meant to realign you towards your true calling… the only failure is not trying at all,” she says.

Since breaking out into the fashion scene last year, Pia has long spoken out about how there is room for everyone in the industry.

Pia’s fashion reinvention placed her at the center of some mixed opinions, who thought that the former Miss Universe was unfit for the scene — a notion that fashion influencers such as Bryanboy dispelled, who wanted to uplift Filipino talent, and said that having more Filipinos participating in international fashion weeks was a good thing.
