Home is where you feel the safest and most comfortable. Over the past months, transforming our places into peaceful sanctuaries has become one of our top priorities. Interests of room fluffing and to some, drastic room makeovers were popular, especially with Instagram becoming a fount of decor inspo to indulge us.
As an Instagram-dweller myself, I've scrolled endlessly in search of unique, aesthetic finds I can add to my dried flower-laden room, as well as new ceramicware to upgrade my dining experience at home. Most recently, I'm on the hunt for scented candles that won't give me a headache, and at the same time, would blend seamlessly into my room.
In my quest, I stumbled upon Eena and Zabel, an online shop selling scented candles that I've quite not seen anywhere else locally. I had the pleasure of catching up with its founder, Ellice Zheng. In our exclusive interview, we talked about her love for room decor that fosters a calming and relaxing effect.
A photographer by profession, Ellice is naturally drawn in anything that's aesthetic. She's constantly on the lookout for double-duty design pieces that can easily "blend with the interiors of a room." Thus, she thought of creating her own line that will give you "a candle and an accent piece in one."
"I got the inspiration from a candles design I saw in a Gift Expo Event overseas last year and when I came back to the Philippines, my supplier and I sat down and worked on the aesthetics," Ellice recalls Eena and Zabel's initial planning stages. She longed for her pretty candles to be unique and have the most heavenly scents. Hence, she pulled inspo from her favorite fragrances by Jo Malone.
Ellice made sure that her candles don't just look good and contribute to your visual experience. She says that she concocted fragrant candles that "also provide the user a calming effect with its fresh and relaxing scents."
Of course, scented candles are best enjoyed when they're lit. But given its fleeting and limited burning time, Ellice suggests you enjoy them as decor first because of its cool shapes and colors.
For easy maintenance and loving care for Eena and Zabel's aesthetic candles, you just need to gently clean them every once in a while so they don't collect dust. "Gently cleaned by rubbing the surface with a piece of nylon or a soft cloth. You can use a dry cloth, or one that's slightly dampened with water," Ellice instructs. She also hints that "these pieces also looks great when stored under a glass cloche, which also protects it from dust."
Eena and Zabel candles starts at P580 for the Amber Lab collection. It comes in heavenly scents of Wild Bluebell (White), Wood Sage and Sea Salt (Blue), English Pear and Freesia (Light Brown), and Blackberry and Bay (Purple).
Their Ice Mountain line starts at P1400 for the Cool Water (Blue) and Wood Sage and Sea Salt (Blue) scents. Meanwhile their Bergamot (Green), Cologne (Grey), and Fresh Water (Red) scents retail at P1500.
