Traveling Down Under just got easier with a new visa option that allows us to stay for up to three months per visit.

The Australian Frequent Traveller Stream (FTS) Visitor Visa (subclass 600) is available for those traveling for tourism, visiting family or friends, or conducting short-term business activities. The cost of this visa is AUD$1,435 or roughly P53,620, with a validity of up to 10 years.

As mentioned, you can stay in Australia for up to three months per visit, but only for a total of 12 months within any 24-month period. The exact details of your allowed stay will be outlined in your visa grant letter.

As of June 2022, approximately 320,300 Filipinos were living in Australia, making us the fifth-largest migrant community in the country. No doubt this FTS Visitor Visa will be helpful for staying connected.

To secure this visa, applicants must meet several eligibility requirements.

Travelers must satisfy health and character requirements, which are standard for most Australian visas. In addition, any outstanding debt to the Australian Government must be fully paid or have a repayment arrangement in place. This applies not just to the applicant but also to their family members.

Applying for the FTS Visitor Visa is relatively straightforward as everything will just have to be submitted through the Australian Government's ImmiAccount portalEssential documents include a valid passport, proof of sufficient funds, and a detailed travel itinerary. Additional paperwork such as employment certificates or letters of invitation may be required.

Once these requirements are in order, the final step is providing biometrics at an Australian Biometric Collection Centre (ABCC) with a service fee of P557. Heads up: walk-in applicants will have to pay an additional P1,000. In Manila, the ABCC is located on the 6th floor of the Makati Circuit Corporate Center Tower Two in Makati City. It is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
