Gear up, fans of zombie movies! Acclaimed filmmaker Carlo Ledesma is back in the game with a new horror film coming out on Netflix on October 17, 2024, and it's looking promising.
"Outside" directed by Carlos Ledesma is coming to Netflix
Known for his previous horror films The Tunnel (2011) and Sunod (2019), Ledesma's new offering is entitled "Outside," and stars Sid Lucero, Beauty Gonzalez, Marco Masa, and Aiden Patdu.
Sid and Beauty play a married couple with a seemingly fraught relationship protecting their two sons—played by Marco and Aiden—from a zombie apocalypse terrorizing the outside world. The family bunk down in an isolated house hoping to survive the ordeal as horror builds around (or within) them. Judging by the tense familial imagery and uneasy atmosphere of the trailer, psychological elements will be at play in this outbreak story.
According to a report, the film draws from Ledesma's experience growing up in Negros, as well as the isolation he experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beauty Gonzales also shared the trailer on her Instagram page, penning a note to audiences.
"So here it is, our little love letter to my home Island of Negros, to philippine cinema, to the whole wide world of zombie and horror film fanatics. I hope this film makes you proud,
keep[s] you disturbed, entertained, and at the edge of your seats from beginning to end," she wrote. "Thank you Direk [Carlo] for including me in your masterpiece."

Netizens react to the "Outside" trailer
On September 19, the official trailer was released by Netflix Philippines on all social media platforms. The first look has since sparked praise, with netizens lauding the "world-class" cinematography, soundtrack, and editing.
