The Miss Intercontinental pageant concluded its 2024 edition on December 7 at the Sunrise Remal Resort in Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt. The Philippines’ bet, Alyssa Redondo, finished third, successfully maintaining the country’s decade-long placement streak in the competition. Meanwhile, Puerto Rico’s Maria Cepero was crowned Miss Intercontinental 2024.
During Alyssa's impressive run, she also took home the Best in Swimsuit award and the Power of Beauty award, which earned her an immediate spot in the Top 7 finalists. Get to know the decorated beauty queen better below.

She’s a Virgo
Born on September 13, 2000, the Gen Z beauty queen is already established in the pageant scene at just 24 years old. She began her beauty queen journey in 2019 when she first joined Mutya ng Pilipinas California. She may have missed winning the major title at the time, but her determination led her to winning the crown five years later, and eventually propelling her to the Miss Intercontinental stage in 2024.
She’s Filipino-American
Alyssa’s family moved from Laguna to California when she was still young. She has represented the Philippines in several pageants based in the United States. Titles she’s won include Miss Philippines USA in 2022 and Mutya ng Pilipinas California in 2024.
Her national costume was a modern take on Maria Clara
During Miss Intercontinental's national costume segment, Alyssa proudly took to the stage in what’s described as a modern interpretation of the Maria Clara. She donned a filipiniana gown by Carl Andrada, whom she’d previously modeled for at a fashion show in 2019. As per the designer, her costume was done in just four days.
She’s a Licensed Vocational Nurse
She aspires to further pursue her career in the field and become a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Pediatrics. As such, Alyssa also advocates for quality healthcare.
Her mantra as a beauty queen is “Simply Beautiful”
A week before deciding to join Mutya ng Pilipinas 2024, she read a fortune cookie that said, “Say it simply with passion.” Alyssa embodied this idea on stage, stating “Your beauty isn’t defined by what you wear, but by how you carry yourself. True beauty comes from your heart and is reflected in how you treat others, even when no one is watching.’”
