With Michelle Dee concluding her Miss Universe journey with a Top 10 finish last November 18, many netizens are understandably upset that the Filipina beauty queen did not even get the chance to prove herself in the Q&A round of the competition.
Adding fuel to the fire, Miss Universe El Salvador's official Instagram account erroneously posted a Top 5 announcement on its stories that mentions Miss Philippines instead of Miss Thailand, causing further confusion among fans and leading Michelle's supporters to question the final results.
Finally addressing the blunder almost a week since the pageant, the social media page released an apology on its platform earlier today, November 23.
Miss Universe El Salvador's statement reads: "Our mistake! In the rush to get our posts up during Saturday’s live broadcast, we accidentally mixed up the names of two finalists. This was a simple error of moving too fast - we heard the same results live at the same time that you all did, no special access over here! We’re sorry to both finalists."
Reacting to the blunder via her broadcast channel on Instagram, Michelle remained graceful and shared a message to her followers. She wrote, "There should be no room for error but the reality is that we live in an imperfect world."
"My request is not just to be respectful to the delegates but to the supporters that are so passionate about this platform as well," the beauty queen added, not mincing her words but still ultimately encouraging her supporters to choose kindness. "But again, EVERYTHING happens for a reason and it's just a matter of seeing it as a lesson or a blessing. So always act with love, kindness, and respect."
Spoken like a true queen!
