Flash photography is coming out of the dark. As something that can be attributed to Gen Z's affinity for nostalgia, incorporating a harsh light to one's selfies (and we mean almost-blindingly-harsh) is now status quo again.

Though, before these intensely-lit shots were cascaded on the Instagram grids of youngins today, celebrity lensman MEETKESO has already been shooting his subjects with the brightest of white lights. Having started in 2016 with nothing but a white wall and direct flash, Keso has developed a "simple, fun, and glam" style that's now distinctly his.

But don't take our—or even just his—word for it. Just ask the likes of Kylie Verzosa, Pia Wurtzbach, Belle Mariano, and so much more! They'll agree that the Keso flash is definitely something you need to try out yourself. It's easier than you'd expect!

According to the photographer, "you can easily get the instant camera flash effect with a smartphone [and] its tiny flash feature." Though, he does state that more light power is required to really achieve that overexposed aesthetic."I'd still recommend to get a cheap digital camera that has a hotshoe and built-in flash," he says.

With your camera of choice in hand, Keso says that no heavy post-editing is needed. "All the magic happens depending on your camera settings during the shoot. The hard flash effect will depend on your power settings and [the] distance between you and your subject."

"Direct flash is very simple and boring! So always put an interesting element in your frame," he adds. Overall, the desired effect will come from how you and your subject interact. "Establish great connections and have fun!" Keso concludes.
