Who says the MCU is dead? Fans are in for a treat as Marvel's first-ever Filipino superhero is part of the upcoming animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
Wave is a Cebuana superhero with the power to control and manipulate water. When not in costume, she is Pearl Pangan. In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, she enters Spider-Man’s world as a fellow student at Midtown High—before the likes of Mary Jane or Gwen Stacey even enter the picture.

LOOK: Marvel’s First Filipino Superhero Is Part of the Upcoming Spider-Man Series

In the trailer, we see Peter Parker accidentally bumping into her in the halls, and from the looks of it, he might just have a bit of a crush on her, too. As for whether she'll reveal her identity as Wave in the series, we’ll have to wait and see.
Watch the trailer for yourself:
The 10-episode series reimagines Peter Parker’s early days as Spider-Man, but with a twist—this time, it is set in an alternate universe where Norman Osborn (that's Green Goblin for those who need a refresher) serves as Spider-Man’s mentor instead of Tony Stark.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is set to premiere on Disney+ on January 29, 2025.
Who is Wave, Marvel’s first Filipino superhero?
This isn’t the first time Wave appeared in the Marvel Universe, though. Created by writer Greg Pak and Filipino artist Leinil Francis Yu, she made her debut in the 2019 comic book War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas #1 alongside other Asian heroes like Shang-Chi and Amadeus Cho.
“Displaying early potential as a swimmer near Mactan Island in Cebu, Philippines, her path to the Olympics was disrupted when a representative from the company AlonTech appeared and tricked her into participating in the company's science experiments,” it says in her biography on Marvel’s website.
If you want to see her in superhero mode, see the photo below. We don't know about you, but she looks pretty badass!
