Baby Reindeer has dominated Netflix’s trending charts, but behind the gripping story is an equally harrowing real-life tale. The British series follows the story of a man who becomes the subject of a stalker’s obsession, based on the real-life incidents experienced by its creator, writer, and star Richard Gadd.
While the series did its part by concealing her real identity under the fictionalized version called Martha, much speculation continued to surround the actual person behind the crimes. Now, the alleged real Martha has emerged to speak about her side of the story in a tell-all interview with Piers Morgan.
Who is the real-life Martha from “Baby Reindeer”?
In an Instagram post, British broadcaster Piers Morgan announced his sit-down interview with Fiona Harvey, a 58-year-old Scottish lawyer who claims to be the real Martha that inspired the Netflix show.

“The real-life Martha from Baby Reindeer breaks cover and gives me her first TV interview about the smash hit Netflix show,” the broadcaster captioned the announcement post, attached with a photo with the alleged “Martha.” “Fiona Harvey wants to have her say & ‘set the record straight.’”
In a previous interview with The Independent, Baby Reindeer creator and actor Richard Gadd claimed that an unknown woman had sent him “41,071 emails, 350 hours of voicemail, 744 tweets, 46 Facebook messages, 106 pages of letters, sleeping pills, a woolly hat, a pair of brand new boxer shorts and a cuddly reindeer toy.” The stalking incidents, which ran for a couple of years, later prompted him to pen the one-man play Baby Reindeer, which the series is based on.

After the height of the Netflix adaptation’s success, viewers had attempted to uncover the real Martha, despite the pleas of Richard and Martha’s actress Jessica Gunning not to pursue it.
Later, a woman who claimed to be Martha spoke with the Daily Mail, saying she was the “victim of the show” and that she received “death threats and abuse from Richard Gadd supporters” after its release.

After the filming of the Piers Morgan interview, Fiona Harvey detailed that she was “not happy” with Piers’ line of questioning and compared it to “a sparring match,” as told to Scottish outlet Daily Record. It was also reported that she was paid £250 for the interview or approximately P17,900.
“It was very rapid to try to trip me up. He did it fast-paced to catch me off guard. Piers kept saying to me ‘Are you sure you haven’t sent this guy 41,000 emails and phone calls?’. A lot of the interview, for a good 10 minutes, he kept coming back to this. I said, ‘Look, even if I had sent some emails, it doesn’t mean I’m guilty of the rest of the stuff. As I said, in order to bill something as a true story, it’s got to be pretty much 100% true. It seemed to me that I was set up. I feel a bit used.”
