Even the biggest of stars need a strong support system in the form of great friends they can always rely on. Case in point is Maja Salvador, who wanted to treat one of her best friends with a surprise birthday party.

Maja and her friends got together last March 10 to surprise their non-showbiz friend, Kane Tiu, on her birthday! In an exclusive interview with Preview, the actress revealed that they've been friends for over two decades. ”Our friendship started when we were young. We grew up together. I think having someone who knows and understands you no matter what is so important,” she said.
Talking more about the surprise, Maja revealed that it was initially the idea of her friend's husband. “Coming from a pandemic lockdown and now [that she’s] a mom of two, we wanted to make her feel na it’s okay to celebrate... So ito yung opportunity na gawin namin yung surprise. Luckily, everyone's free and made time,” she continued.
They endearingly named their party Kanechella, a play on the celebrant's name and Coachella, which was the theme of the party. Check out the heartwarming photos from their intimate birthday surprise below:

Fun fact: To get Kane all glammed up for her birthday surprise, Maja told her that they were going to have a pictorial for Preview's #BePrevYOU campaign.
"Nagamit ko tong alibi sa bestfriend ko na magbi-birthday, but I changed the topic [to] friends who empower each other, so we had a photoshoot. Nag shoot kami for 'PrevYOU' para glammed up siya sa suprise namin sakanya," she shares. "It was a success naman!"
