Maja Salvador and Rambo Nuñez have officially tied the knot! For their destination wedding, the long-term couple gathered their family and friends at the picturesque Apurva Kempinski in Bali, Indonesia, which served as the backdrop to their formal festivities. But little do most people know, the two have long been married in a civil wedding ceremony back home in the Philippines.
Preview Exclusive: Maja Salvador and Rambo Nuñez Reveal Civil Wedding in Manila
In an exclusive interview, Preview’s August 2023 cover girl Maja revealed that she had officially been Mrs. Nuñez for a few months now, following their civil wedding earlier this year. The actress stated that the two had wedded in a local ceremony on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2023, prior to their big July 31 wedding in Bali.
“Dapat talaga isang beses lang,” she told Preview. “Pero, since pinili namin to have a destination wedding, hindi kasi i-o-honor ng Philippines ’yung wedding namin sa Bali.”
Maja explained that the civil wedding was more for technical reasons, but the event itself proved to be one for the books. As a more scaled-down version of their Indonesia-set wedding, their civil union was held at the Grand Hyatt Manila, with no more than 60 people in attendance. The ceremony’s guests were composed of Maja and Rambo’s relatives, while the dinner party was opened up to their close friends.
Aside from the significance of Valentine’s Day, the date they chose also happened to be their fourth anniversary.
As for her look of the day, Maja was garbed in a dainty white Mark Bumgarner creation with sabrina neckline and an A-line skirt. Dipping into her lower back was the ensemble’s pièce de résistance–the ribbon that ties it together, which was a deliberate choice for Maja.
“I requested a bow because of Rambo,” Maja explained, pointing out her husband’s nickname “Bo.”
“Halos lahat ng sinuot ko may bow. Kahit na parang joke siya pakinggan, cute details lang din [’yun].” According to Maja, she later changed into a dress by the luxury brand Berta for the event's reception.
The whole celebration was kept under tight wraps, as guests were also requested to avoid posting about the wedding on social media. When asked whether or not it was difficult to keep mum about the festivities, Maja was quick to say yes.
“Lalo na ngayon, digital na sobra. May cellphones and all, and everyone can be the paparazzi,” she said. The secret was kept, and it proved to be a success, as the newlyweds rang in their married life with their peers and their closest kin. So sweet!
