Good things really come to those who wait! According to the Department of Transportation, Terminal 2 of the Mactan Cebu International Airport is slated to open this coming June, a month earlier than its planned July 2018 inauguration. The terminal, which has been in construction since June 2015, is expected to handle around five million passengers annually.

Poised to be the country's first "resort airport," the new terminal is the work of big names in Filipino architecture and design, such as architect and interior designer Budji Layug, architect Royal Pineda, and internationally renowned furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue.

The Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Terminal 2 was designed with the natural beauty of the Philippine landscape in mind, with glulam wood used to create the dramatic arches of the roof (reminiscent of the waves of Mactan's oceans). With the construction of this new terminal, the MCIA can now grow its passenger capacity from 4.5 million to 12.5 million yearly.
