"Without them I wouldn't be where I am today—killing it and getting that bag."

The road to Liza Soberano’s Hollywood dream has been paved with intrigue for the actress, after some critics accused her of being "ungrateful" and even delusional — but it’s a journey that has paid off after she officially made her debut in the movie, Lisa Frankenstein.

In a parody video with YouTube channel Rec Create, Liza, being interviewed by her alter-ego Hope, touched on a few of the issues she has been through in the past few years, including her alleged preference over her real name, Hope, over her screen name Liza, and the actress' supposed lack of gratitude following the viral vlog she released in early 2023.

Liza Soberano Says Supporters and Haters "Have Motivated Her to Work Hard"

"The past year has been a rollercoaster. You had a lot of doubters, but you proved them wrong with this Hollywood debut of yours. Is there anything you’d like to say to them?" Hope asked the actress.

"I’m equally grateful to both my supporters and my haters. It’s been a hell of a ride, but I wouldn’t be where I am today — killing and getting that bag. So, thank you. Without you, I wouldn’t have been so motivated to work," she answered.

It may be a parody video, but we can’t help but sense some nuggets of truth in that statement!

Directed by Zelda Williams, a Filipino-American director who also happens to be Robin Williams’ daughter, Lisa Frankenstein is proving to be a solid first showing for Liza, who was handpicked for the role by Zelda herself.

In a previous interview, Zelda said that she convinced Liza to come read for the movie.

"When you have to hire people to play sisters, that dynamic is so important. I think Liza thought that I was was kidding originally, when I told her that she should come in and read for the movie and read the script. I think she was like, ‘No, you don't want me in your movie.’ ‘Yes, I do. You're brilliant.’"

Her performance has been praised by her co-stars Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse — Kathryn said that Liza was "the best part of the film," while Cole gave her a lot of industry tips behind the scenes.

She’s also been keeping busy, as she recently presented at the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, and appeared in a TikTok video of popular content creator, Daniel Mac.

Haters gonna hate, Liza. You go, girl!
