Helmed by director Zelda Williams–the daughter of the late comedian Robin Williams–alongside a screenplay written by Juno and Jennifer’s Body's Diablo Cody, Lisa Frankenstein takes audiences back to 1989, where an unpopular high schooler named Lisa accidentally reanimates a Victorian corpose–think the Mary Shelley 1818 classic Frankenstein, but with an ’80s twist!
The upcoming film marks Liza’s Hollywood debut, as she portrays Taffy, the stepsister of the titular character Lisa (played by Kathryn Newton). In the newly released teaser trailer, the two characters exchange a conversation inside a car, with Taffy saying: “That’s really weird, Lisa.”
Liza’s fans and supporters expressed their excitement at the Filipina actress’ first foray into Hollywood cinema, with some glad that she’s repping the Philippines in the international stage.
Aside from Kathryn Newton, Liza co-stars also include familiar names in TV, including Riverdale actor and former Disney child star Cole Sprouse. Lisa Frankenstein is set to release in theaters on February 9, 2024.
