Weddings aren’t your run-of-the-mill festivities. Given that it’s arguably the most important day of a married folk’s life, it isn’t surprising that creative couples can get downright ingenious with their nuptials’ game plan—even down to the accouterments. Case in point: wedding flowers, but made of LEGO bricks.
LOOK: Koko Ko and Ian Sta. Maria’s LEGO Wedding Flower Bouquet
This is the route Filipino newlyweds Koko Ko and LEGO Senior Concept Artist Ian Sta. Maria took for their special day in Denmark, opting for the building block bouquet and a matching boutonniere.
According to Koko, the couple had already owned LEGO's popular Flower Bouquet set at home. While a clever spin on the traditional flower arrangement, using this for their wedding, however, was more of a logistical solution.
“Our wedding was at 10 a.m. in a neighboring city from where we lived, and we had to be there by 9 a.m. for photo ops,” she tells Preview. “Shops in Denmark usually open later and I didn't want to buy fresh flowers the day before the wedding. I thought of using it as my bouquet when we were looking at a local flower shop when I couldn't decide what I wanted.”
The couple noticed the LEGO bouquet laying in a glass vase in their house, and the rest is now their wedding history. Koko had previously built the set in two hours, and fashioned one of its roses as a boutonniere for Ian.
Even with a crowd brimming with LEGO employees, Koko and Ian’s guests were still impressed. “They loved it!” Koko said. “They found it a novel idea.”
