In the much-anticipated Season 2 of Netflix's XO, Kitty, fans were treated to a delightful surprise: Noah Centineo reprising his role as Peter Kavinsky. His cameo, set against the vibrant backdrop of Seoul, felt like a love letter to OG fans of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before franchise. But with Peter’s return, one major question loomed: Where was Lara Jean?

So, Why Didn’t Lana Condor Show Up in "XO, Kitty"?
Considering Lara Jean is Kitty’s older sister and a core part of the To All the Boys universe, many expected her to at least make a quick appearance. But despite the show’s many references to the Covey family, Lana Condor was noticeably absent from Season 2. Naturally, this led fans to wonder—was it a creative decision, a scheduling issue, or something else entirely?
While there was no official explanation, Lana Condor’s absence might be because of a simple reason: scheduling conflicts. Since wrapping up To All the Boys, Lana has been busy with multiple projects, and aligning her availability with XO, Kitty’s production timeline might not have been feasible. Not to mention, the actress tied the knot with longtime boyfriend Anthony De La Torre in November last year!
But beyond that, bringing Lara Jean into XO, Kitty’s current storyline just wouldn’t have made much sense. Unlike Peter, who had a clear reason to be there (his lacrosse game happened to be held in Seoul), Lara Jean is supposed to be in her final year at NYU. A spontaneous visit to her sister Kitty (Anna Cathcart) in Korea wouldn’t have been as natural, and including her just for the sake of a cameo could have felt forced.

It’s clear that the showrunners have been deliberate about keeping XO, Kitty focused on Kitty’s journey. Peter’s brief scene was a fun nod to the past, but Lara Jean’s absence suggests that the show is committed to letting Kitty’s story evolve independently.
Will Lana Condor Ever Make a Cameo in "XO, Kitty"?
While Lara Jean didn’t appear this season, that doesn’t mean she’s gone for good. In a recent interview, Lana Condor made it clear that she’s not ruling out a return to the XO, Kitty world.

"I would definitely never say no [to appearing in XO, Kitty]. I mean, I think it’s pretty clear that I love the To All the Boys world and have dedicated a lot of my young adulthood to it. To me, that world feels like home," she shared in an interview published on Screenrant.
“It’s just so exciting to see Anna take off on her own because, when I was working with her, she was still young, but she was always like the most professional on set. She was always the most prepared. I always felt like I was hanging out with a peer and not someone younger than I, and so I just respect her so much and I’ve been really excited for her.”
So while we didn’t get a Covey sisters reunion this time, there’s always a chance it could happen in a future season—if the timing (and storyline) is right.
