Ku Hye Sun recently revealed she was living in her car while completing her degree at Sungkyunkwan University.

On a recently aired episode of tvN's Truth or Fiction: An Elegant Life, Ku Hye Sun talked about the sacrifices she had to make to obtain her degree. According to an All Kpop article she confessed, "I have squandered much of my fortune. After some bad things happened to me my family has become a lot closer."
The television segment starts off by showing the Boys Over Flowers actress waking up in her car. "I don't have a permanent residence," she explains. "I stay at my mother's house in Incheon, but on exam days or important occasions, I bring my car and sleep in it or stay at the library."
When asked why she couldn't commute from her mother's home, she replied: To make it to school for a 9 A.M. class means I have to leave Incheon at 6:30 A.M. It takes 3-4 hours drive (to get to school)." She also said she used to rent a small room in front of the campus. But during her final semester, her lease ended and she couldn't find a place to rent for her last three months.
The footage also showed Ku Hye Sun's daily routine of cleaning herself with wet wipes and eating in her car. "I often don't wash much," she said. "I can manage without shampoo, using just soap for everything, including my face. I genuinely don't understand the need for body wash and use lotion for everything."
The segment concluded with the host asking about her motivation for completing her studies. "I was once considered a successful daughter," she explained. "But I also experienced great failures. Graduating is incredibly important to my parents. It’s their most cherished dream."
Safe to say, all of her efforts were totally worth it. The actress graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with a Summa Cum Laude distinction last February, and it seems she's not stopping there. "I might not be able to work much. I have to get a Ph.D., which will take 7-8 years," she said on the show. "After getting my degree, I might end up doing something entirely different. I envision myself studying alone in a container in the mountains, as sitting and studying is what I love most."

If you're wondering about the actress' current living situation, fret not. Two days ago she posted on her Instagram account that she is currently building a house near her school.
"I posted a post because a lot of people were concerned about yesterday's broadcast," she wrote. "The reason I don't have a home now is because I'm building a house near the school. [I] bought [my] families a house each! I'm promoting my wealth by paying my education fees and buying my juniors. I'm preparing for graduate school in the future, so I plan on contributing all my assets to my education expenses. Working hard!"
