On April 12, 2024, actress Kaye Abad was featured in an episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda. There, she recalled the moment when radio broadcaster Mohan Gumatay, better known as DJ Mo Twister, called her the “ugly version” of Iza Calzado. The issue has since gone viral, with fans of the actress going as far as sending Mo hate messages for his comment. Naturally, the DJ felt the need to clarify why he made that comment in the hopes that it would “put this ugliness behind us.”

To finally clear the air, DJ Mo invited Kaye Abad onto his radio show Good Times on Magic 89.9 to discuss the “ugly version” comment he made about the actress.
He shared snippets of their interview on his Instagram with the caption, “I will only comment on this issue ONCE. I have been receiving hate messages all week long about what I said regarding Kaye Abad, stemming from when I called her ugly. It’s been on the news and in tabloids online and I just need to fix this.”
In the interview, DJ Mo revealed that the comment was made while they were playing a game back in the '90s. “I think what happened was we were doing the ‘ugly-version of which celebrity’ [game], tapos diba binanggit ko na 'I'm the ugly version of Matt Damon.' Tapos nag-text ka sakin,'" said Mo.
Kaye then responded by saying, “Nag-text ako sayo, sabi ko, ‘Ako Mo, sinong ugly version ako?’” which then led to Mo’s “ugly version of Iza Calzado” comment.
When Mo asked if his response hurt her, Kaye lightheartedly responded, “No. Not at all. Actually, na-flatter pa nga ako kasi I really find Iza very pretty. So 'nung sinabi mo 'ugly version ka ni Iza Calzado.' Sabi ko, ‘Oh wow. Sige, sige, I’ll accept that!’”
Kaye also shared that after her Fast Talk interview aired, Iza Calzado reached out to her. “She actually messaged me. She told me that she heard about my Tito Boy Abunda interview and what Mo said. [Sabi niya], ‘First of all, thank you for the kind words, but then ‘wag ko daw tanggapin na sinabi mo na ugly version niya ako.”
Mo clarified that he meant no harm towards Kaye when he made that comment and that he had no intention of making her feel ugly. “I’m glad that you’re on the show so we can clear the air here that we’re not fighting. We’re okay. Everything is fine. I didn’t really mean it when I called you ugly. I should have just said discount. I should have been better,” he said.
