Last Thursday, July 25, in London, KaladKaren gave her fiancee Luke Wrightson the sweetest "yes" after the two got engaged for the second time around. The news anchor and actress admits that she was pleasantly surprised by the proposal. In an exclusive interview with Preview, she details what went down on the romantic day.
The Details of KaladKaren's Surprise Engagement in London
KaladKaren and Luke have been enjoying a long engagement for about four years now. The couple has been docked in the United Kingdom for a few weeks, and on their agenda was a pre-nuptial photoshoot with Nice Print Photography. Unbeknown to her, her groom had some additional plans.
"In the middle of the photoshoot, nagulat ako nung lumuhod si Luke!" KaladKaren gushes to Preview through a voice message. "Naloka ako nung naglabas sya ng panibagong singsing. I'm speechless until now!"
According to KaladKaren, they've been planning to do a pre-nuptial photoshoot for a while now, but their schedules in the Philippines could not seem to align. "We didn't have any plans to have a second proposal. Talagang sorpresa lang sa'kin ni Luke," she says.
The Looks
KaladKaren prepared both her and Luke's outfits at the last minute, even heading to a department store to scour her options. "Si Luke, binili ko lang yung damit nya on that day, kasi wala kaming white dress shirt and trousers for him," she narrates.
"And for my dress, I just saw it in a shop and binili ko kasi ang ganda. Tapos yung shoes, nakita ko rin na puti, so pinagsama ko na lang. Sabi ko, 'Okay na 'to, magmumukha nang pang-prenup 'to.'" She finished off her OOTD with a dainty white ribbon adorning her tresses at the back.
The Engagement Ring
The bride-to-be's engagement ring was definitely one of the highlights of the day. "Ay, upgrade talaga ito," she remembered telling herself. Her new ring, a five-karat radiant-cut diamond with stones lining its perimeter, is notably larger than her first one, which was a two-karat oval-cut diamond.
Overall, KaladKaren is overwhelmed with emotions after Luke's surprise. She calls it the "cherry on top" with their wedding planning already underway. "Itong second proposal na 'to, talagang bonus na lang for us. I'm just so happy it happened. You know, spontaneity," she expresses.
"I'm just so grateful for everything. Four years of being engaged was worth the wait."
