In the words of a much-used quote, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. In the trending Prime Video teleserye Linlang, this can be perfectly encapsulated by Kaila Estrada’s portrayal of Sylvia Lualhati, a woman caught in the crossfire of the infidelity of her husband Alex (JM de Guzman) and in-law Juliana (Kim Chiu).
After infertility issues begin to crack their wedded ties, Sylvia soon discovers that Alex is in an affair with his brother’s wife. While the first few episodes paint her as a martyr partner and a subject of sympathy for audiences, Sylvia comes to her own breaking point, as earlier revealed by Kaila herself.
With the release of episodes nine and 10, Kaila quickly rose to internet prominence after a roaring appearance that depicted Sylvia’s rage for her situation. The hashtag #LinlangOnPrime9n10 climbed up on X (formerly Twitter)’s trending charts, with many users lauding the actress’s stellar performance.
Netizens React to Kaila Estrada’s Performance in “Linlang”
Several netizens were left in awe with Kaila’s depiction of Sylvia, with one netizen expressing that she rightfully “deserves the spotlight.”
OG fans of Kaila reminisced about her previous work in 2021’s Viral Scandal, which was an earlier peek at her standout acting chops.
Meanwhile, one netizen mused about Kaila’s range as an actress, noting her role in the Donny Pangilinan- and Belle Mariano-starring Can’t Buy Me Love, which is simultaneously airing alongside Linlang.
Another user praised the young star’s performance caliber, especially when going toe-to-toe with veteran actresses like Maricel Soriano.
Many quipped a round of “anak ni Janice” comments, alluding to Kaila’s famous and equally talented parents Janice de Belen and John Estrada. But let it be known: Kaila’s a budding acting powerhouse of her own!
In fact, even her fellow stars were left stunned by her performance. Gawad Urian-awarded actor Christian Bables had the best things to say about Kaila’s stint as Sylvia, even wishing that they’d get to work together someday.
As for Kaila, the actress was flushed with gratitude with the showers of praise for her role. The actress thanked viewers on X: “Nakakaiyak. My heart is full.”
Her scene partner and co-star Kim Chiu was as much in awe as the rest of the audience. The actress replied to Kaila’s post, saying, “Galing mo!!!! [heart and clapping emojis]”
Gracious as ever, Kaila responded: “Nako, sinabayan lang kita! [heart emoji]”
Congrats, Kaila!
