Inside Out 2 appealed to audiences around the world with its premiere earlier this 2024. It has potential to hit even closer to home by the time you stream it on Disney+ this September as our very own Joshua Garcia is lending his voice to a character for a special dub of the animated film.
Joshua Garcia Is a Voice Actor for the Inside Out 2 Filipino Dub
Garcia, known for playing the leading man in rom-coms and drama movies, is set to play Lance Slashblade, an anime hero whom main character Riley had a secret crush on. Inside Out 2 doubles the emotions as Riley grapples with being a teenager, going from the initial five with Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Anger, and Fear up to 9 with the inclusion of Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui.
His role on Inside Out 2 marks Joshua's first foray into animation dubbing, an experience he said was difficult but fulfiling, especially as a fan.
"Fan talaga ako ng animation at ng Inside Out, kaya na-excite ako sa opportunity na 'to. Akala ko nung una madali lang siya, pero hindi biro yung experience kaya looking forward ako makita yung final," he shared.
Inside Out 2 as the first Filipino-dubbed film on Disney+
Inside Out 2 is the first Disney+ offering to get a Filipino dub. While most animated and box office releases do drop on the streaming platform, there are rarely changes or cast additions, making Inside Out 2 special for the Filipino audience.
The sequel raked in P88.8 million on opening day last June, and currently holds the record for the Philippines' fourth highest grossing film and second highest grossing animation.
