Jinkee Pacquiao's home in General Santos features a collection of grand objects that would make anyone who's obsessed with majestic interiors swoon. Today, she took it to Instagram to post a little family picture with her husband Manny and son Israel and we spotted a striped midcentury modern chair that piqued our interest.

After a glance at the unusual chair and ottoman and a quick Google search, we ID-ed the object as the La Mamma UP5 Lounge Chair and UP6 Ottoman, a piece by Italian architect Gaetano Pesce.

Designed in 1969, architect Gaetano Pesce thought of the idea for the chair in the shower. "I had the sponge in my hand," he said. "When I pressed the sponge, it shrank, and when I released it, it returned to its original volume." The compression and expansion of the sponge inspired him to design a pop-up chair that was meant to be shipped flat and could rise to its intended shape at its destination—a revolutionary idea at the time.

But the construction wasn't the only intriguing aspect of the chair and ottoman, the designer intended it to be an abstract representation of a woman. The seat resembles a woman's form, while the spherical ottoman—attached to the chair by a rubber cord—depicted the shackles that keep women subjugated. "I was telling a personal story about how I see the woman: Despite herself, the woman has always been her own prisoner," said Pesce. "And so I wanted to give this armchair a feminine form with a ball at the foot, which also represents the traditional image of the prisoner..."
