There are two options to qualify.

Looking for the right opportunity for you? Germany could be an option.

Germany has launched a new visa system that welcomes skilled workers from outside Europe, including skilled workers from countries like the Philippines through the Chancenkarte or "Opportunity Card." The new system was rolled out this June under Germany's Residence Act, which allows qualified workers from non-EU countries to look for a job that fits their skills in Germany.

The German Embassy in the Philippines recently shared the news on Instagram.

"The 'Opportunity Card' is a new residence permit to go to Germany to look for a job. It is now open either to skilled workers with degrees recognized in Germany or on a points-based system for workers with a degree that is not yet recognized. If you can find a qualified job you can live and work in Germany," it said.

How to Qualify for Germany's Opportunity Card?

There are two options to qualify for the Opportunity Card.

Option 1: Recognized Qualifications

If you hold a foreign professional or academic qualification that Germany fully recognizes, you're in luck. Alternatively, if you earned your degree or professional certification within Germany's borders, you get an express pass. You can apply for a residence permit and get 18 months to look for your dream job.

Option 2: Points System

You may also qualify for the Opportunity Card if you score at least six points in the points system. To earn these points, you must have completed at least two years of vocational or academic training recognized in the Philippines or the country where you obtained such training.  You also get extra points if you are proficient in either German or English.
