On October 16, Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz shared the magical moment where she and her boyfriend Coach Julius Naranjo got engaged. "I'm grateful to God that He sent Julius into my life; he makes my life easy," she wrote on Instagram. Apparently, Julius took Hidilyn on a romantic dinner date (with two other couples!) at a hotel where he popped the question amongst friends. Julius even gave her a unique and beautiful weightlifting-inspired engagement ring!
It's been a couple of weeks since the proposal and Hidilyn just shared a few deets about their upcoming nuptials. In an interview with Inquirer, Hidilyn revealed that she and Julius decided on Baguio as their wedding location! "We're planning a simple private wedding in Mount Costa in Baguio. The place doesn't really matter as long as God is there and our loved ones," she said.
And as for their honeymoon, they're all set to jetting off to Europe: "I want our honeymoon to be in Europe or any place where we will be away from it all and have time for both of us to plan the future."
Hidilyn also broached the subject of kids and said that she wants two (a boy and a girl), while Julius wants six boys! "Good luck to me (laughs). But whatever God gives us, a baby is a blessing," she said.
It was in 2017 when Hidilyn and Julius, who's a Filipino-Japanese weightlifter from Guam, met at a sports event in Turkmenistan. The two have been in a relationship for three years before getting engaged! Julius revealed in a recent interview that he realized he loved Hidilyn when he made the decision to leave Guam: "I had a full-time job, I was coaching, doing filmmaking on the side. I had an easier life, convenient. I think leaving everything was enough for me to say, 'I love her.'"
