The story of Beauty and the Beast is one we all fell in love with growing up. Unlike other Disney princesses who were descendants of royal blood, Belle was just a young lass who enjoyed reading and took care of her father. She braved the blizzards to save him from the clutches of the Beast, whom she eventually softened and fell in love with. It's a classic heartwarmer, with catchy song numbers and tearjerking moments to boot.

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, the fairytale is getting a live action special on ABC. Cast as the endearing princess is Grammy Award-winning R&B songstress H.E.R., who, in case you didn't know, is half Filipino! Joining her in the line-up of actors are Hollywood heavyweights Josh Groban, Shania Twain, and Rita Moreno, among many others.

Though she may be playing a character that traces its origin to French descent, the 25-year-old is definitely bringing her own flavor to the role. In fact, when shots of the singer's costumes were released, many were able to point out a detail in her village look that was distinctly H.E.R.'s.

On the white apron layered over her blue dress, red text is illustrated in Baybayin, a way of writing that's native to the Philippines. It spells out "B E L," which, of course, references her character's name. So cool!

Seemingly tiny details like these matter a whole bunch to the budding actress. In an interview with Good Morning America, she candidly stated: "I never thought I could be a Disney princess... Every little girl wants to be a Disney princess, but I've never seen one that looks like meso I get to be that to little girls now."
