Global style icon Heart Evangelista is the newest ambassador of Avon PH. At the launch event on Thursday, May 2, the 39-year-old actress candidly reflects on her career, and forging female friendships in the industry.

Beyond gracing the biggest international fashion events, Heart also has an illustrious multi-hyphenate career as an actress, visual artist, and businesswoman.
With a career that spans decades, Heart admits that the industry can be very cutthroat, especially for women. And yet, amid the inherent competitiveness, Heart laments how "women can be tough on each other." She explains: "Especially in our industry where, in a sense, we grew up to think that everything is a competition."
In the fashion and entertainment scene, longevity is never guaranteed. Granted its volatility, Heart underscored the importance of staying true to one's character. "You're just as good as your number. But as you get older, looks will fade. Your career won't be a career one day, [but] it's your heart that will stay," she muses.
And in an industry that's become all too cruel for women, the Filipina style maven is all for lifting each other up and extending help when needed. "Hopefully, everybody can just help each other, not step on each other. Be there for each other, you know."
She further adds: "All you have to do siguro for a woman to woman, is ask. When they see you're humble, with all means, go, I'll help you."
Heart on her career goals
Heart has a long list of achievements throughout her career– from being the quintessential teen actress of the 2000s to a household name at global fashion events. There is clearly no stopping the star, and at 39 years old, the well-loved socialite can only look back on her career with immense gratitude and contentment. "Honestly ako, wala na akong hinihingi, [sa] career, wala," she expressed. "I mean I'm so, I'm so thankful that after 25, 26, I'm still doing what I'm doing so kumbaga, bonus na ito."
Moving forward, Heart has one simple wish: "Good health for me and my loved ones—my dad, everyone. That's the only thing I ask for. Everything else is a bonus."
She further remarked: "Aanhin mong pera, [at] kasikatan, kung hindi ka naman masaya sa totoong buhay. So, that's all I ask for."
