Global style icon Heart Evangelista recently picked up a new role as the president of the Senate Spouses Foundation Inc. (SSFI). A big component of her new post is to spearhead socio-civic efforts that uplift those in the marginalized sectors of society.
Just this week, it was reported that Heart made a sizable donation to the foundation's advocacy efforts by selling one of her famed hand-painted Hermès bags.

In a post by the Sparkle GMA Artist Center, Heart was seen handing a check worth P1.5 million to Kat Pimentel and Nancy dela Rosa of the SSFI. It's detailed that the money came from the sales of one of her customized Kelly bags. While the model or colorway wasn't specified, a little zooming in on the check showed that it was similar to one she carried during a fashion week jaunt.

According to the Senate website, the SSFI focuses its efforts on "building homes for the elderly, conducting medical and dental missions, gift-giving and feeding programs for street children and the needy in marginalized communities, and carrying out relief operations during disasters, among others."
The latter proves to be timely given the recent onslaught of Typhoon Carina in several regions of the country. During the week of the calamity, Heart was also seen packing relief goods to be distributed to those in need.
During a recent interview with Boy Abunda, the actress-influencer opened up about the renewed sense of purpose she feels from her position. "All of this, lahat 'to (pieces of jewelry), ang gaganda and everything but why are you wearing it? For what? What is it accessorizing? It's supposed to accessorize your heart, your soul, and I feel like my soul is so fulfilled that it's worth wearing all of these,” she expressed.

Kudos to you, Heart!
