World Friends, a YouTube channel that produces content featuring people of different nationalities, recently released a video where cast members try to guess the age of Filipino celebrities. Among the personalities they discussed were Anne Curtis, Bea Alonzo, and Vice Ganda.
Global style influencer Heart Evangelista was notably mentioned in the video as well. Upon flashing her photo, the cast members speculated her to be anywhere between 35 to 50 years old.
YouTubers Attempt to Guess Heart Evangelista's Age
One guesser said that Heart looks like she is 45 years old due to her "heavy makeup."
Another one chimed in, "When you're really young, we try to go all out, like strong makeup and everything. And in your 30s or 40s, you try to look more natural. But she's back to the heavy stuff. It seems like she's old and trying to look young."
Another cast member based her answer on the appearance of Heart's nose. "It does seem like she might have a nose job," they said. "Which looks like one that has grown a little bit... Like it's not a fresh nose job. When you see that with older idols, sometimes the work doesn't stay together."
At the end of the segment, the cast was surprised and apologetic when it was revealed that Heart is only 39 years old.
Netizens React to Vloggers in Defense of Heart Evangelista
Many netizens were up in arms about the video, criticizing how judgmental the cast seemed to be. One commented that they were "[kind of] rude with their expressions."
Pinoys who saw the video clip aired out their thoughts on the matter. Some expressed that the guesses were on the exaggerated side. "OA naman yung 50," one user noted.
Facebook users also called out the video for "Pinoy-baiting" since it drew many Filipinos to click on it.
On the other end, netizens also brought up how the guessers have a preconceived notion that Filipinos and Asians in general look genetically younger. A number of users agreed that the way Heart's makeup was done affected how mature she appeared to be.
The actress-influencer's fans affirmed that Heart looks great for her age, with one saying that "they'll be amazed when they see her without makeup."
In a previous interview, Heart opened up about getting criticized for her looks in relation to her age. Taking things with grace, she stated, "I feel I am the best version of myself today and that wouldn't happen if I didn't get older. I also feel that I was able to achieve my dreams now that I'm older. As you get older, better things and greater things happen."
