The Netflix series XO, Kitty is a feast for the K-culture fan, thanks to its chock-full of Hallyu references. Aside from the K-drama tropes and the jampacked K-pop soundtrack, the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before spin-off even includes some notable cameos, which have easily been spotted by eagle-eyed fans.
LOOK: “Boys Over Flowers” Actress Han Chae Young Starred in “XO, Kitty” as Min Ho’s Mom
Other than the much-talked-about appearance of 2PM’s Taecyeon as the idol Ocean Park, another Hallyu vet also made her presence known in the show. The Korean actress Han Chae Young guest-starred in several episodes as Dami, the mom of Min Ho (played by Sang Heon Lee).
Like her real-life persona, Dami is a veteran actress famous in-universe. Due to her busy schedule, the character only appears during video call scenes with her son while she’s filming a movie in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Han Chae Young holds a significant filmography of her own. Nicknamed the “Korean Barbie Doll,” the 42-year-old actress made her TV debut in 2000's Autumn in My Heart as the antagonist Shin-ae, who plotted against Song Hye Kyo's Eun-suh.
In 2005 and 2006, Chae Young shifted to the main lead status in rom-com dramas like Sassy Girl Chun-hyang, Only You, and Fireworks. She also made a cameo appearance in the Lee Dong Wook-starring favorite, My Girl.
A few years later, the star portrayed another well-loved celebrity as Min Seo-hyun in Boys Over Flowers. Old-school K-drama fans will remember her as the subject of Yoon Ji-hu (played by Kim Hyun-Joong)’s affection.
After a four-year hiatus in the drama scene, Chae Young appeared in the 2022 thriller Sponsor alongside Lee Ji Hoon.
Here’s hoping we get to see more of Chae Young in a potential XO, Kitty season two!
