Gabbi Garcia described as "one for the books" her whole month in Switzerland and Finland shooting the upcoming TV series Unbreak My Heart!
"It was really such a good experience," the 24-year-old Kapuso actress shared during the official launch on March 8, 2023, of the BGC branch of Marqed Salon, which she co-owns with hair expert Mark Anthony Rosales.
Gabbi related, "Iba rin kasi lalo na when you’re working remotely, tapos bagong pamilya pa yung kasama ko, bilang first time ko halos lahat makatrabaho because it’s a Dreamscape production.
"It’s an ABS-CBN production, so talagang andaming learning experiences. Andaming mga memories na talagang I’ll forever treasure. One for the books talaga siya. Dun lang, may mga bagay na first time kong gawin, first time kong na-experience."
Gabbi Garcia on Bonding with Her Co-stars
Gabbi said she not only enjoyed working with Jodi Sta. Maria, she particularly relished their time gadding about the food stops in Milan, Italy.
She related, "Si Ate Jodi, sobrang na-a-appreciate ko siya. She’s very, very, very kind, genuinely a kind person. Ang saya kasi I got to bond with her. We’re both foodies, para kaming naging travel buddies especially sa last few days. Nag-food tour kami, nag-explore kami ng iba’t ibang mga lugar sa Milan."
She continued: "We made sure na makakahabol kami ng onting pasyal, kasi puro work kasi, e. So we made sure that the day before our flight, or the morning before our flight, makapag-food tour man lang kami."
On the other hand, Richard Yap, who also topbills the series alongside Jodi, somehow became like an adoptive father to Gabbi during the taping.
"Sabi ko nga, adopted daughter na talaga ako," she quipped, calling the actor "Papa Chen."
She recalled, "Papa Chen, ayun na nga, kasama niya rin kasi yung buong family niya going to Europe. At for some reason, palagi nga nila akong kasabay sa flights, kasabay nila ako sa service, kasabay nila ako sa flight going back. And nakakatuwa kasi they’re such a beautiful family. Ang sarap nilang kasama. Naging friends ko na din ang mga anak ni Papa Chen."
Gabbi and Joshua Garcia, meanwhile, have long been friends before they started filming the series.
Gabbi said, "It’s nice working with Josh, especially [because] he makes sure that we’re comfortable with each other, which I appreciate. And nakaka-excite kasi it’s not your typical rom-com love team series. Iba siya. It has more depth, the characters are more complex. And it’s both our first time to do such roles. So kakaiba siya."
Summing up her working trip in Europe, Gabbi said, "It was a wonderful experience, lalo na’t kami-kami lang magkakasama. Kami-kami lang mag-dadamayan sa pagod, sa saya. Especially, one month in Europe is not easy. Siyempre nandun din yung nag-aaral kami ng characters namin, ng script namin. So talagang kailangan tulung-tulong kami."
Talking about the series, Gabbi could hardly contain her excitement, "Ako yung na-e-excite para sa kanila. I’m pretty sure a lot of our viewers, a lot of Kapuso and Kapamilyas, have already seen the BTS. May sari-sarili na nga silang theories kung ano yung storya, kung ano mangyayari.
She added: "For sure, mabubusog kayo talaga when it comes to visuals, when it comes to the story, when it comes to the acting."
