If you've ever fallen down a social media rabbit hole of Japan's must-try desserts, chances are you've come across that fried sandwich shop people are willing to wait hours for. This is Age.3, a dessert shop known for its fried sandwiches stuffed with lush whipped cream and fresh fruit.
The good news? You won't have to spend your Japan vacation stuck in a queue. Age.3 is bringing its desserts to the Philippines soon for the very first time, and we spotted the signage announcing its opening in the North this year.
Japan's Age.3 to bring its famous fried sandwiches to the Philippines
Age.3 is named by combining "ageru" (which means "to deep-fry" in Japanese) with "sando" (short for "sandwich"). The "sando" part also sounds like the number three ("san") in Japanese, creating a playful wordplay resulting in Age.3. With branches across Japan, as well as in Hong Kong and Australia, Age.3 is now gearing up to open its first Philippine store at SM North Edsa in Quezon City.
Our friends over at Spot.ph noticed the Age.3 signage on the second level of SM North Tower-right on the way to The Block. In big, bold letters, it says that Age.3 is set to open this July-which, if you think about it, is just around the corner. Right before you know it, you'll be happily eating their famous fried bread or fried shokupan, stuffed with sweet and savory fillings!
There's no word on the exact menu yet, but our fingers are crossed they bring the full lineup to the Philippines. In Japan, the classic whipped cream filling is a classic choice you can't go wrong with, but you can have more creative flavors with whipped cream in different flavors, topped with different fruits like strawberries or mango, and drizzled with sauces or sprinkled with candies. Age.3 Japan also has savory options with oozing curry, creamy egg salad, and even noodle-stuffed pockets for some carb-on-carb action.
Fingers crossed there are no delays because, with each passing day, the Japan FOMO is getting harder and harder to manage!
