The struggle is real for Filipino workers—so real that 64% of employees are either actively job hunting or seriously considering leaving their current employer within the next 12 months, according to the latest Aon Employee Sentiment Study.

This growing dissatisfaction among workers has fueled the demand for better pay and meaningful benefits, with 66% of them ranking these as top priorities. Other key considerations include a fun place to work (27%), well-being support programs (22%), flexible work arrangements (21%), and recognizing individual achievement or performance (19%).
This is not only true among workers in Manila.
“Competition for skilled talent is increasing across the Philippines. This affects not just Manila, where the right talent is more readily available, but also in cities like Cebu, Davao and other islands within the archipelago,” Aon Growth Lead for Talent Solutions Josef Ayson said in a press release.
What do Filipino workers want in a company?
Many workers feel their companies are falling short of the above-mentioned expectations.
Customizable benefits are a big concern—83% of workers want more flexibility in this area, but few have that option. The study found that the most valued benefit is medical coverage, followed by paid time off, work-life balance programs, career development opportunities, and retirement savings.
Benefits alone aren’t enough to keep employees from leaving. Some 15% of workers feel their employer isn’t investing in their skill development, raising concerns about career growth, while 9% believe their company isn’t taking enough action to protect employee health and safety.
At the same time, though, 60% of workers agree that what they're being paid is “fair” compared to those with similar roles in the industry. Only a small percentage are currently struggling (6%) and need support (2%).
Then there’s the AI-driven workplace shift, which, if anything, is sparking excitement among Filipinos. Nearly half of the workers interviewed feel “more motivated” to upskill just to stay relevant—a notably high figure compared to other global counterparts, as per the Aon study. Our eagerness to embrace AI aligns with similar findings from Jobstreet in 2024.
The Aon Employee Sentiment Study is a comprehensive workforce research report that examines job satisfaction, compensation, and workplace expectations among employees across various industries. The 2025 edition of this study surveyed over 9,000 employees across 23 countries.
