This year’s edition of the pioneering movement festival will be held inside an iconic house in Philippine cinema.

Fifth Wall Fest is back for its fifth edition, bringing a bold and immersive experience for movement lovers and art enthusiasts alike. With a theme centered around “The body is home,” this year’s festival promises a fusion of performances, workshops, films, and installations, all unfolding from October 19-20, 2024 at a historic house in New Manila, Quezon City. Whether you're an art connoisseur or simply curious about the world of movement, here's everything you need to know about this multidisciplinary festival.

What Is Fifth Wall?

Fifth Wall Fest began in 2020 as an “at-home” festival for dance films, launched online to reach audiences during the pandemic. Over the years, it has evolved into a pioneering international platform celebrating dance and movement in many forms, breaking boundaries and blurring the lines between disciplines. Founded by dance artist Madge Reyes, Fifth Wall pushes the limits of how movement can be experienced and shared. As the name suggests, it breaks the “fifth wall”—the imaginary barrier between artists and audiences—creating moments that connect people through movement, sound, and visual storytelling.

This year, Fifth Wall Fest is once again elevating the festival experience by transforming a historic film location into a dynamic art space, exploring the notion of home as both a physical and emotional space.

"Each iteration of our festival has been a step forward, but Edition V feels particularly special. It’s more than a milestone; it’s a reflection of how far we've come, and a celebration of the body as home—not just as a place but as a feeling that exists within and between us," says Madge Reyes in a statement.

Where Is Fifth Wall V Held?

This year’s festival will take place at the self-dubbed “Fifth Wall House,” located at 35 Broadway Ave. Cor. 9th St., New Manila, Quezon City. The venue is steeped in history, originally the residence of Narcisa “Doña Sisang” V. Buencamino-de Leon, the president of LVN Pictures, one of the most prominent film studios during the golden age of Philippine cinema. Once used as a set for the 1939 film Giliw Ko, the house has transformed into an evocative stage for Fifth Wall’s movement-centered installations and performances.

Visitors will have the opportunity to wander through every room, experiencing multimedia art, performances, and even guided walking tours led by Archivo 1984, which delve into the house’s rich cinematic history.
