On the side of fashion, GQ China has put heat for a spin and pulled the attention of the internet with its recent viral editorial. One of its featured models, Ye Hao, has even piqued the curiosity of netizens–here’s what the buzz is all about.
“Heat Stroke” GQ China Editorial Featuring Chinese Model Ye Hao Goes Viral
Chinese model Ye Hao became the freshly-minted “it boy of Asia” for the summer, thanks to his trending appearance in GQ China’s heat-induced fashion editorial. In the publication’s June 2024 issue, the muscular newcomer posed for the editorial titled “Heat Stroke,” which spewed artistic renditions across the internet.
Lensed by photographer Wintam, the glossy spread featured models Kim, Yu Hang, Ho Ju, and Ye Hao in sweltering looks evocative of the warm summer days of Beijing, decked out in playful and bold ensembles styled by Shawngao.
Ye Hao was on the receiving end of buzz for his looks, as a specific shot became the fixation of many. In one of the photos, the model sported headphones and a checkered accessory tied to his waist, all while his shirtless torso flaunted a sunburned outline of a crop top.
With the illusion of short sweat-stricken tresses by hairstylist Tao Liu and blush-heavy red tones by makeup artist Lucas, the editorial spread birthed redraws by many anime and K-pop fan artists, who recreated the shot with their favorite characters.
Posting a photo of Ye Hao behind the scenes of the shoot, one user on X even chimed in: “[Ye Hao] had no idea he was about to make history and disrupt multiple factions of twitter [X].”
Who Is Ye Hao?
With his newfound popularity in the online space, netizens have naturally gotten curious about the up-and-coming model. Ye Hao even launched his own Instagram page after the recent virality, which he claims is his only social media account.
In the account’s early days, Ye Hao’s page offers a glimpse into his everyday life, which mostly involves his hours spent working during photo shoots. Off-duty, however, the model seems to enjoy days by the beach and training his impressive physique at the gym.
Ye Hao is currently signed under China’s Together Model Management, which is an agency based in Hangzhou, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. Aside from China, the agency is also dedicated to placing its models across international fashion markets like Milan, Paris, New York, and London.
