Just a week after Elisia Parmisano was inducted to debut as a K-pop idol, another Filipina has made the cut in Universe Ticket’s girl group: 16-year-old Gehlee Dangca!
During the Korean survival show’s finale, the teen performer was officially named as a member of UNIS, becoming one out of three Filipinas in the new roster. As we await their official group debut, ahead, get to know the essentials on this new star below!

1. Gehlee Dangca is a Leo.
Much like the K-pop idols that came before her, Gehlee will debut at the age of 16. She was born in the Philippines on August 19, 2007, making her a loud and proud Leo!

3. Gehlee Dangca is the fourth trainee announced as a member of UNIS.
The teen Filipina flew to South Korea to compete in the SBS survival show Universe Ticket. There, 82 contestants from across the globe vied for a spot to debut in the eight-member girl group, now known as UNIS. Contestants were ranked with the levels P,R,I,S,M based on their performance and votes, with “P” being the highest.
During the competition, Gehlee showed off her tenacity, as she started with a 22nd place ranking out of 82. While she initially received a “low level” ranking, the trainee pulled through with a group performance of “Nan” by CLON. She reached “S” then, and soon made her way to the top!
4. Gehlee Dangca is one among three Filipina members in UNIS.
The young star is among three Filipinas proudly waving the country’s flag in UNIS! Aside from Gehlee, her fellow trainee Elisia Parmisano secured the first spot as its official member. They will debut with Korean-Filipina Jin Hyeongju, who is the oldest of the bunch at 22.
Previously, half-Filipino and half-Japanese Aya Natsumi was also among the trainees for Universe Ticket, but was sadly eliminated during the earlier rounds.
5. Gehlee Dangca is a young beauty queen.
Before making her way to the K-pop industry, Gehlee was already accustomed to the stage. The teen had her fair share of experience at local beauty pageants, where she can be seen decorated with awards and sashes.
6. Gehlee Dangca is nicknamed “Princess of the Universe.”
With her foray into pageantry, it’s no surprise that Gehlee radiates a regal aura. Her fellow trainees certainly think so, as she was dubbed “Princess” due to her graceful manner. According to her profile, Gehlee calls herself the “Disney princess” of the show!
7. Gehlee Dangca studied at well-known schools in Metro Manila.
Before heading to South Korea, Gehlee studied in San Beda College Alabang and St. Paul College Pasig. She was active during several activities, and even had the title of “Lakambini ng Wika” during their school’s Buwan ng Wika!
8. Gehlee Dangca represents several brands.
At her young age, Gehlee is already the face of many brands. The up-and-coming K-pop idol fronts local businesses and labels, including Ortiz Skin Clinic, Michaela, and The Lachryme.
