It's a fact: Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, a.k.a. DonBelle, are one of the hottest love-team partners in showbiz!
Dubbed as the “New Gen Phenomenal Love Team," their popularity with today’s generation is indeed remarkable especially during this pandemic.
On June 1, 2021, according to a report on ABS-CBN News, their first series, He’s Into Her (2021), trended on social media, and made iWant TFC hit the number one spot for free entertainment apps on both Google Play Store and the Apple App Store in the Philippines.
This year, Donny and Belle are set to headline their first Kapamilya teleserye titled Can't Buy Me Love. While its release date is yet to be announced, PEP.ph listed five DonBelle’s movies and series that their fans can watch anytime. Check it out below!
1. He's Into Her (Season 1) (2021)
Donny and Belle first headlined He's Into Her, a 2021 Philippine drama television series based on the 2013 Wattpad novel by Maxinejiji (Maxine Lat Calibuso).
The 10-episode youth-oriented series follows the story of Max (Belle), a strong-willed girl who moves from the province to attend school in the city, and Deib (Donny), the captain of the basketball varsity team and a popular kid in the school.
When the two first meet, they become enemies, but eventually fall for each other.
This series gained popularity not only in the Philippines, but also internationally, as it was nominated at the 2021 Venice TV Award for the Cross Platform Programming category. It also won the national award for the Best Original Program category at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2021.
2. He's Into Her Season 2 (2022)
Following the record breaking success of He’s Into Her 1, iWantTFC, Star Cinema, and ABS-CBN renewed the series for a second season. The continuation of Max and Deib's love story premiered in April 2022.
In this season, enemies-turned-lovers Deib (Donny) and Max (Belle) are officially the newest power couple in Benison International School. Their relationship seems to be smooth sailing until problems from their past begin to haunt them and unanswered questions start to resurface.
3. James and Pat and James (2020)
Donny and Belle were part of Ronnie Alonte and Loisa Andalio's James & Pat & Dave, but weren’t the main romantic pairing in the 2020 film. Donny played the role of Dave, Loisa's returning ex in the movie. For her part, Belle surprised everyone with a cameo appearance at the last part of the film. She played Trish, a girl who Dave met at the beach, hinting at a future romance with Donny’s character.
4. Love Is Color Blind (2021)
Love is Color Blind follows the story of Cara (Belle), a young woman who is secretly in love with her best friend Ino (Donny), who has somehow lost the ability to see color and is going through a particularly tough time.
While Cara tries to bring the joy and color back into Ino’s life, he starts dating Iris (Angelina Cruz), and Cara winds up in a relationship with Sky (Jeremiah Lisbo). The film was directed by John Leo Garcia.
5. An Inconvenient Love (2022)
An Inconvenient Love was Belle and Donny’s first movie to have a theatrical release and Star Cinema’s first movie to be shown in cinemas after the pandemic.
Written by Enrico Santos and Daisy Cayanan, An Inconvenient Love follows the story of Belle as Ayef, a convenience store worker who aspires to be a professional animator in Singapore; and Donny as Manny, a company heir who runs his own plant shop and secretly works as a social activist. Determined to realize her dream without any room for distractions, Ayef strikes a deal with Manny to have a “contractual” romance, which ends once she’s set to fly abroad.
