It's been a while since we've last heard of any real updates on the highly anticipated second season of the Hulu hit show Nine Perfect Strangers. The first season stood out of its amazing ensemble, with Nicole Kidman killing it as our favorite mysterious wellness guru.
The good news is that she'll be back again. Filipino fans should rejoice, too, now that BAFTA nominee Dolly de Leon is confirmed to be joining Nicole and the rest of the all-star cast.
In Season 1, we got to see the likes of Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale, Regina Hall, Samara Weaving, Melvin Gregg, Asher Keddie, Grace Van Patten, Tiffany Boone, and Manny Jacinto. The new ensemble, which Dolly will be spearheading, hopes to replicate that same magic.
A report from Deadline says that Dolly will be part of the second season ensemble that will feature two-time Oscar nominee Liv Ullmann, Emmy winner Murray Bartlett, and Maisie Richardson-Sellers. Nicole is back as the series' star and executive producer. She'll definitely have her hands full with these new strangers with her.
Nine Perfect Strangers is based on Liane Moriarty's book of the same name, who's also the author who brought us Big Little Lies, which Nicole previously starred in. Since its debut in 2021, the show went on from being a limited series to becoming Hulu's most-watched original. Among those attached to produce the second season are David E. Kelley, Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories, Nicole’s Blossom Films and Fifth Season.
So What Is Season 2 Going to Be About?
The details are still somewhat up in the air. Reports suggest that Season 2 will offer much of the same thriller blueprint as the last season. We do know that the new story is going to be set in the Swiss Alps. Wellness resort director Masha (Nicole), of course, will have a lot of fun with this new batch of stressed-out city people. And Dolly in the Alps sounds like a pretty compelling pitch to us!
