It's time for us to say that our two worlds have collided—and it's all thanks to the charming IRL interaction between Wicked lead star Cynthia Erivo and heartthrob Dennis Trillo.
It was revealed through a video uploaded by film director Quark Henares on Instagram last March 2, 2025. It was shot in 2021 when Dennis and the team of their movie, On the Job: The Missing 8, attended the 78th Venice International Film Festival in Italy.
Quark posted the video with the caption, "Don't know if I've ever shared this particular video but here's Best Actress Nominee @cynthiaerivo gushing over MMFF Best Actor @dennistrillo! Will she bag the big one tomorrow? We discuss her chances on the latest Endslate!!!" He was referring to the 2025 Oscars awarding ceremony held on March 3, 2025.
The video showed Dennis—who was holding the camera—saying, "It's a video," with Cynthia, Quark, and Parasite director Bong Joon Ho in the frame with him. All of them said "Hi!" to the camera, with Cynthia beaming the widest smile on-cam.
"Congratulations. [...] You were brilliant. I have to see you in many, many movies. You were brilliant," Cynthia told Dennis while nodding in approval. In return, Dennis thanked Cynthia and everyone else in the crowd who was praising him, including German-Romanian filmmaker Alexander Nanau.
We found out that Dennis had already uploaded the video back in September 2021, when he was still in Italy for the renowned film fest. Nonetheless, it was definitely a good day to look back at a monumental scenario in his life as an actor. He commented on Quark's recent upload saying, "Parang dream sequence eh."

Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba from Wicked
At this point in time, to be in a room with Cynthia would be a dream come true for anyone who has watched Wicked and has been a fan of musical theater. Way before Cynthia portrayed Elphaba in the big screen, she had been making a name in the theater world. She starred in musicals like The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, The Last Five Years, and The Color Purple.
Cynthia top-billed Wicked alongside our fave pop star Ariana Grande, who not only defied gravity but also silenced critics with her incredible vocals that exceeded expectations in the musical film. Because of their outstanding performances in Wicked, both received well-deserved recognition for their portrayals. They were also nominated for this year's Oscars: Cynthia for the Best Actress for the Lead Role and Ariana for the Supporting Role.
Most importantly, Cynthia and Ariana performed "Defying Gravity," during the Oscars 2025.
