Filipino furniture brand Curafurn is redefining what it means to “upcycle.” For the last few years, the brand has been making waves with its recycled thrifted pieces, which range from post-modern to boho-chic. But Curafurn’s latest products aren’t just any old vintage pieces—they’re the iconic McDonald's stools, aka McStools.

Curafurn’s latest items don’t just upcycle furniture—they elevate it. The crusty, faded plastic of the typical McDonald’s stools is nowhere in sight. Instead, Curafurn has completely remade the boring stools into works of art.

“Oftentimes, used pieces from restaurant pullouts are still very sturdy, even tested through time. What a waste if these shall go straight to the trash!” said the brand in a post.

As they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Curafurn’s takes McDonald’s disposed stools, adds foam, refinishes the base, and replaces the upholstery with beautiful prints to create a furniture piece worthy of being put on display.

The bedazzled McDonald’s stools are now a best-selling item for Curafurn. At only P3,650 a piece, the stools work best as accent pieces in any room of the house. The brand offers countless redesigns, ranging from printed sage to midcentury blue chenille, but it’s the upcycled element that makes these stools particularly appealing. Who would have guessed that a fast food restaurant’s dull furniture could come out looking so good?
