"Sa show biz, maraming tao na mas maganda talaga sa’yo."

While show business is often glamorized, it’s no secret that being in the limelight at a young age can have a negative impact on one's mental health. Case in point: Countless Gen Z stars continue to struggle with low self-confidence and body image concerns due to the harsh criticism they face in the cutthroat industry.

Most recently, He’s Into Her star Criza Taa opened up about the issue further in a YouTube vlog and revealed that she has personally also dealt with self-doubt. “Low self-esteem? Actually, ganyan din ako, especially dati. Wala akong confidence, parang feeling ko ang pangit ko tapos ang gaganda ng mga kasama ko,” she shared.

Touching on the highly publicized nature of her work, she said, “Sa show biz, maraming tao na mas maganda talaga sa’yo. Hindi mo maiiwasan [na] mas sikat sa’yo.”

Criza further explained that she used to compare herself to other girls her age before she eventually realized that there’s no point in finding fault with her own insecurities. From there, she learned to accept her imperfections and love herself unconditionally.

Na parang, ‘Ano ba ‘to?

Napagod na ako, and you know what? I-sa-start ko na mahalin ‘yung sarili ko and tanggapin kung ano man ‘yung binigay sa’kin ni Lord. Lahat naman tayo maganda sa iba’t ibang ways natin e,” the actress added.

Aside from sharing her story, Criza also didn’t hesitate to offer some wise words to her young audience. Empathizing with their experiences, she reminded her fans to stay patient as they naturally learn to embrace their differences: “I understand ngayon if nag-su-struggle kayo and feeling niyo pangit kayo or mababa ‘yung self-esteem niyo. Trust me, mahahanap niyo rin kung saan kayo comfortable and mahahanap niyo rin ‘yung talagang power and confidence niyo.”

“To make it short, mas mag-focus lang tayo sa sarili natin. Huwag nating pansinin ‘yung mga ibang tao na nagsasabi na, ‘Uy, parang tumaba ka ,’” she advised. “Basta alam mo sa sarili mo that you’re doing your best and alam mo sa sarili mo na maganda ka. Ignore mo lang sila, hayaan mo lang sila. Basta focus ka lang sa sarili mo.”

We couldn’t have said it better, Criza!
