K-drama viewers mostly know Choi Woo Shik as the charming Choi Ung in coming-of-age series Our Beloved Summer. Though, before he starred in the 2021 drama, he was already making a name for himself through supporting roles in critically-acclaimed titles such as Train to Busan and Okja. Not to mention, he was also a part of the multi-award winning cast of black comedy thriller Parasite.

With that kind of filmography, it's same to assume that project offers have flooded in for the celebrated young actor. One script that landed on his lap was Past Lives, which is currently creating buzz in Hollywood's ongoing awards circuit.
Choi Woo Shik Was Originally Cast in A24 Movie "Past Lives"
Back in January 2020, as he was riding high from the global success of Parasite, Woo Shik's handlers at Management SOOP announced that the actor was tapped to take part in Past Lives. He was the original choice to portray the leading man Hae Sung, who was eventually brought to life by German-Korean actor Teo Yoo.

The romantic drama was the directorial debut of Korean-Canadian filmmaker Celine Song. Presently, it's gaining an abundance of good reviews from viewers and critics alike, with many suspecting Oscar nods in the coming months.
Teo was announced to be part of the movie in August 2021, alongside Greta Lee and John Magaro. To this day, it was never publicly announced, nor was it ever explained, why Woo Shik was pulled out of the project.

Though, despite not appearing in Past Lives, Woo Shik still remained booked and busy. Aside from Our Beloved Summer, he played a key part in the Netflix movie The Policeman's Lineage, which was released in 2022. Something he currently has in the works is the sci-fi fantasy film Wonderland, which he'll be starring in alongside Park Bo Gum and Bae Suzy. Exciting things ahead!
