It isn’t an XO, Kitty episode when there isn’t a tangle of romances surrounding Kitty and friends–and season two definitely didn’t disappoint.
While Netflix’s hit To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before spinoff began its story with Kitty (Anna Cathcart) flying off to Seoul in search of her long-distance Korean boyfriend Dae (Choi Min Young), the love stories surrounding the show have since branched out. In season two, Kitty comes face-to-face with more budding (and often confusing) romances, while Dae has a new love interest on his horizon–fellow KISS student, Eunice Kang (Ryu Han Bi).

Dae and Eunice’s relationship might be brewing in the XO, Kitty universe, but little do viewers know that this isn’t the first time that the actors shared the screen. Back in 2016, the two already starred in a children’s K-drama together!

Before they filled the shoes of Kim Dae-heon and Eunice Kang, actors Choi Min Young and Ryu Han Bi had their fair share of screentime in local Korean series. Among them included the second season of the children’s drama Rad Science, which ran in 2016.

The series, which was broadcast by CJ Entertainment’s cartoon and anime channel Tooniverse, was adapted from the mahwa (Korean comics) series literally translated to “Tomorrow Is Experiment King.” For its episodes, Rad Science delved into the students in a science club at Saebyeok School, where they’re set to compete in a national science experiment contest.
In the drama, Choi Min Young plays elementary pupil Heo Hong, who’s known to be an ace student in his experiment class. Opposite him is Joo Soo-ah, a fellow student portrayed by Ryu Han Bi.

Where You've Seen Choi Min Young and Ryu Han Bi Before
Aside from Rad Science, both Choi Min Young and Ryu Han Bi appeared as child actors across different dramas and titles. Prior to XO, Kitty, Min Young had already starred alongside K-drama household names in series such as Strong Girl Bong-soon, Itaewon Class, Radio Romance, W: Two Worlds Apart, and Twenty Five Twenty One, where he portrayed the younger brother of Nam Joo Hyuk’s character.

Han Bi, meanwhile, has earned accolades as a young star for her role in Come and Hug Me, bagging the title of Best Child Actress at the 2018 MBC Drama Awards. Notably, news began circulating of her past as a former trainee of the K-pop girl group NewJeans, which perfectly explains Eunice’s skill in singing and dancing.

Rad Science Season Two is available to stream on YouTube, while XO, Kitty seasons one and two can be streamed on Netflix.
