Sen. Chiz Escudero Clarifies That He Only Attends Fashion Week to Support His Wife Heart Evangelista

Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero got social media buzzing yet again when he appeared wearing a stud earring at a Senate hearing on August 16, 2023 and fashionably attired in spiffy white jacket. The "New Chiz Escudero" seemed to be the consensus among netizens. So, what gives, Senator Chiz? It behooved Karen Davila to ask the suddenly fashionable politician in an exclusive interview for ABS-CBN News Channel.

Karen started, "We have netizens saying, 'There's a New Chiz Escudero.' Light na 'to, I can't resist. So, you're out in Fashion Week more, surprisingly. There are more photos of you everywhere, and we have netizens commenting you look different. What's happening, Senator?"

Responding with a laugh, Senator Chiz said that his presence in Paris during the Fashion Week was as supportive partner of his wife, the actress and fashion maven Heart Evangelista. "Ako lang yung alalay sa likod ng asawa ko tuwing may Fashion Week at libre at bakante ako. Ako yung taga-laba, taga-luto, taga-linis, taga-tahi, pag may kailangang tahiin."

Going forward, he took pain to explain his turning up on occasions looking fashionably spruced up, "Minsan lang ako uma-awra-awra. Pero hindi palagi yun. Nakukumbinsi lang at napipilit."

The senator then added on a serious note, "So far as the others are concerned, well Karen, like you, tumatanda tayo. And our objective should be longevity; not really to look good, but more on being healthy and to preserve and have longevity. Longevity should be the objective."

It can be recalled that in May of this year, this photo of the 53-year-old politician sporting microbladed eyebrows circulated roundly on social media. It was one of the photos uploaded by Heart and taken during the couple's romantic escapade in Italy in time for Fashion Week.

Chiz's new look was met with mixed reactions, with some netizens noting that Heart's passion for fashion seemed to have rubbed off on her husband. Maybe so as seen in more photos of Senator Chiz walking the streets in Europe stylishly besuited and well turned out.
