Makati City is known for a lot of things. It's a hub for all things shopping, a hotspot for the latest in food and drinking, but it's also known for housing many art galleries and museums. A staple for any history buff or art aficionado is the Ayala Museum, and while there are a ton of restaurants in the area, they are all outside the museum—until April 12, when Museya Kafé, the first and only café in the museum by no less than Chef Margarita Fores, opened.

Open every day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Museya Kafé is located beside the Greenbelt entrance of the museum. After a long day of namjooning (a.k.a. basking in the arts and culture on display) at the museum, you can grab a cup or two of locally-sourced Arabica coffee, along with quick bites like sandwiches, pastries, and other desserts.

They mostly serve finger food, refreshers, and coffee at the new venture. We're most excited to try the different Sourdough Pan de sal Sandwiches, like the one with Adobo Flakes, Tomatoes, and Kesong Puti (P160) or the all-veg Grilled Eggplant & Kalabasa with Smoked Kesong Puti (P130). To beat the summer heat, you can take your pick from their selection of juices or shakes, like the Cucumber Calamansi combination (P230/ juice, P240/ shake) and their fresh Dalandan drinks (P240/ juice, P250/shake).

This new café is helmed by famed Filipino Chef Margarita Fores—hailed Asia’s Best Female Chef in 2016, and also the driving force of CiboGrace Park, and Lusso (plus Ramen Ron with son Amado and Chef Tamura). Fores is known for her Italian cooking, principles of which she applies to Filipino ingredients. Safe to say there's no more going hungry while touring around this arts and culture hub.
